Yoga-related places/stores in Florida?

Hi there,
Not sure this is the right section of the forum to place this post, but... as some of you know, I'm a French man living in France. I'll be in Florida in August for a 2-week vacational autotour, going from Orlando to Tampa, Naples, Key west up to Miami. I'd like to benefit from my presence in te US (I just love USA) to buy some yoga accessoires such as a bolster, yoga eye bags, Iyengar blankets, and so on...
Would you please know any good place where I could buy...

It is harder to find online examples for this than for other things I have needed to do a resume for, and I would love a few different ones to get a feel for what I want to do with mine

Starting in the right place

NamasteYogis and Yoginis!
I have a question.
I have completed my 200 hr TT and desperatly want to teach in a place that has a spiritual/healing energy to it... as in... not a gym... and not a place that is "yoga for exercise"...
The problem is that I live in a huge city (LA, but moving to NYC, so NYC for all further matters) and it seems nearly impossible to get a teaching position somewhere reputable unless you have gone through a specific studio's training....

Series Based Studios?

I am wondering if any of you operate or work for studios that have only series based scheduling? How is this working for you? What are the pros and cons? Do you allow drop-ins mid-series?

Hi Everyone,
I'm a studio owner and was wondering if anyone else does this and if they had any feedback or thoughts. I've proposed to all of the teachers in our studio for a get-together once a month, to practice together for a couple of hours. My intention behind this is to promote a community for the teachers to share ideas, questions, etc. It's a way to connect more with each teacher. So often they zoom in, teach, and zoom back out and on to the next class or appointment....

Obscene phone calls

I had an obscene phone call last night. The caller rang asking to talk to me about my yoga classes. My husband answered the phone and then passed the call on to me (at that point he thought it was a legitimate call). I don't have a separate business line as I can't afford it for the number of classes I teach a week. I have a small home studio though - a room in my house which is set aside for teaching. Hello again!

For those of you who are living the dream and are working full time for yourself as a yoga instructor. What were the steps you took to get there? I am dying inside at my coporate job and it's not a matter of finding another corporate job.

When I am practicing yoga I am entirely at peace, centered and full of joy. The exact opposite at work.

Anyone care to share how they did this? I'd be even more interested if there wasn't a second income to help out....

I'm going to start teaching at what's considered one of the premier health clubs where I live. They asked me what I'd like to call my class and I suggested Freedom Style yoga (they like to call yoga classes by names other than yoga 1, yoga 2...). At first it was okay but then management stepped in and said that it was too political. I'm totally serious.

OMG!!

I am so grateful for Val:

My nieghbor converted her back porch into a yoga studio.

She is a hands on teacher all the way and so beautiful at what she does how she does.

What a blessing to walk not even half way around the block to this special place.

She also has a nieghbor with an aviary next door and it adds to the ambience of the class

yoga and vision boards?

Has anyone ever done a workshop which combines yoga practice with producing a vision board? (say an hour and a half of yoga and then an hour or so doing a vision board). If you have or have any thoughts on this, I'd love to hear them.

Does it sound like a good idea?/workable?

Being constantly monitored while you are teaching class?

When you teach class are you constantly being monitored by the owner(s) of your yoga center?

Do you think you can freely teach without someone (the owner(s) breathing down your neck?)

I can see when you first try out at a yoga studio as a new teacher, but if you are a seasoned experienced teacher do you think the managements hovering around the center while you are teaching a cool idea?

Doesn't this connote a lack of trust of the teacher?...

Hi fellow Yogi's and Yogini's

I closed shop in Burlingame, Ca and moved to Fresno, and the cost-of-living is much cheaper here, but people are not into Yoga like it was in the SF Bay Area.

The dilemma is how to prospect for new students?

I am renting a Yoga space at a dance studio for $20 for a 90 minute (or sometimes 60 minute class) but again its not in a well-populated spot.

I'm planning to teach from home from next week. I've also got some classes planned outside the home which will definitely run.

So far, for my home classes I have one child registered for an hour long session.

In my ads, I said I needed a minimum of 2 registrants to run a class.

My home classes are going to be small - because of zoning rules they can't be more than 5 people.

I'm torn - do I go ahead and run the class with...

Does anyone use any of the yoga studio softwares to run their studios? And, if so, how is it? It's finally looking as though I may have found a studio space, and I am now looking into the software. It seems to come down to DharmaTribe or MindBody, as I'm an a Mac...
