Question? I have someone who has asked me about private yoga instruction and mediation. I don't know if this would be in their home or if they are looking for studio time. I don't have a studio right now.

Certified Vs RYT

Hope your weekend is going well. Question? Do you feel that a Yoga Teacher needs to be RYT?

I am that person who has been a fitness leader since 1984, Certified Yoga Teacher since 2005 and have done continuing education with various teachers, Wade Morisette, Sandra Samminito, etc. I also attend continuing edcuation studies with my fitness re anatomy, etc.

Due to my personal situation and finances have not been able to take a RYT 100 or 200 hour...

since September 2008, a local studio i participate with
is trying to find ways to reach out more
in these challenging economic times.
we had a very successful (free) all day event
that brought in almost 100 peeps,
but that didn't spill over into them coming thru

What is your opinion on being certified through Yoga Alliance as a teacher, a studio, etc?
I have a studio & we have chosen to not be Yoga Alliance certified at this time. I have mixed feelings on this & was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this.

Has anyone ever done a booth or display at a fitness / wellness / health fair?

If so, what types of brochures did you do?

What did you put on your display?

Did you play any music or show a yoga dvd?

Did you demonstrate yoga poses?

Did you have handouts on the benefits of yoga?

My husband and a few friends are supporting me in filming a Yoga for Athletes (beginner - intermediate) dvd. It would be abut 45 min., and only sold in the studios I teach at, and local shops. NamasteYogis and Yoginis!
I have a question.
I have completed my 200 hr TT and desperatly want to teach in a place that has a spiritual/healing energy to it... as in... not a gym... and not a place that is "yoga for exercise"...
The problem is that I live in a huge city (LA, but moving to NYC, so NYC for all further matters) and it seems nearly impossible to get a teaching position somewhere reputable unless you have gone through a specific studio's training....

Series Based Studios?

I am wondering if any of you operate or work for studios that have only series based scheduling? How is this working for you? What are the pros and cons? Do you allow drop-ins mid-series?
