I would like to ask what is the best place for Uddiyana in the practice. I do it during my morning practice. I tried it before asanas, but the body is not
always warm enough, and I feel it's too powerful, and sometimes give me unpleasant sensations in the heart.

Then I started to do it after asanas. It works fine, when I don't do upturned postures after the practice. But when I do, I don't think it's a good
idea to rise and try uddiyana after them.

Uddijanna kriya sounds quite similar to kapalbhati, where the stomach expells the breath rhythmically. This is often followed by full udiyanna with external
retention.

Udiyanna is possible in asana, although most usually as an "extended" moola bandha. Ashtangis practice it as a slight firming of the lower belly.

Its very cool in pascimottanasana. You can get the full version going, and have jalandhara at the same time. The forward bend feels very different.

Hi Yuri,

I'm not familiar with Uddiyana Kriya. Maybe it is Nauli Kriya? If yes then you probably know that it is not about moving the stomach but the abdominal
muscles - there are a lot of explanations about Nauli Kriya on internet so I'll not detail it here.

Indeed Uddiyana and Nauli are some of the best ways to improve the stomach health and also the other things related to digestion (liver and so on). I tested
them on myself also and they really did a great...

Light on Yoga (Iyengar) has good instructions with Uddiyana and Nauli. Step # 9 on Uddiyana reads: "Relax
the abdominal muscles but without moving the chin and head. If the latter move, strain is at once felt in the region of the heart."

doing a little churning in both directions. It seems to help with regularity. I'm still not adept at isolating the (forgive my lack of terminology), main
muscle down the center but get a very good wave going. Then I stand unlock the chin and inhale!

Naturally, different lineages of yoga will have different rules as to how to practice. There is certainly benefit in respecting the rules passed on by your
teacher. There is also benefit in experimenting and seeing how a sequence or practice affects you. I do not study a style that requires a savasana in between
asana and pranayama (or Kriya or meditation). I enjoy mixing up the practices in ways that work for the way I feel on a...

I am aware this bandha stokes the element of fire and supports the spine. However it also lifts and presses the abdominal contents into the diaphragm and the
