Promising to be outspent 100 to one, Ralph Nader launched his 2008 presidential race yesterday as an independent. Check it out at www.votenader.org
Maybe the only honst candidate besides Ron Paul. This seems to be his major differences. Interesting.

Excellent article. One thing the Republicans have been right about for many years is to point out that the Democrats were (for the most part) wimps or closer
to the truth sell outs to their same master. That's why I think they accuse dems of acting holier than thou, when they know that they are both on the same
chow.
The masks may be different but hey look at the flag -- "Skull and Bones"-- the International Pirate Confederacy! Hey what about an independent!!! Can't be controlled though! Oh my, too unpredictable. Ralph and Matt are for real!

They did end up doing the right thing, though, so they deserve credit for that.

There are many more options than one may assume. Although much of the media will pretend that it is a two party race, Ralph Nader, is talking more sense than
any of those puppets. Here's a speech he gave last week televised by
Cspan that's available for downloading. He is the only candidate that is defending the constitution and demanding the impeachment of Cheney and Bush.
He's talking real issues that need to be addressed. IMO this is the last chance for American Democracy.
Granted that Nader is bringing up what might seem as "unpleasant facts" to those who have invested in Big Brother as the only way to go (paranoia, police state, and war forever), he is offering an alternative that seems far more attractive. At least to me a world free from war, free from a police state, strife, and free from paranoia is a preferred starting point..

Sita Namaste! Who is them? Ralph Nader? Why not encourage Ralph? BTW "them" (whomever they may be) just might not want you to vote. They just might want you to think you are helpless, powerless, and exploitable. Ever think of that? Democracy is the last voice of community -- this one needs a lot of changing (IMO) not more passive reactions and non-creative fancies. Did you take a look at the Nader video? What do you think about it?. Donny

I'll probably catch hell for this, but I think anyone who is still calling for Bush and Cheney to be impeached should just knock it off. Really. Stop it.
Give it up. You are wasting precious energy.
I like Ralph, but he is not electable, unless you can start a revolution and really get out the vote. Which ain't gonna happen. I remain, cynically yours, Pam |

Yep, well Ralph is not electable only if there were more people like you who believe he is not electable. Of course it also helps to have a media who does not
even know that Ralph is running or national debates that do not include him. I think rather the truth is that the elite just don't want to give him a
chance as he is the only candidate that is not sold out. I'd agree with Sita "why vote", if it wasn't for Ralph. I =know people don't
want recognize the ten trillion dollafrfederal debt, the highest incarceration rate in the world, the lack of univefrsal health care, the destruction of social
security (what security), the increasing wars of aggression, increasing domestic surveillance and police state, the rise in violent crime.... and we could go
on for along time. It could be said to be unpleasant to some one who doesn't want to acknowledge it, but it is some thing that needs to be acknowledged in
order to change these unpleasant things. Pretending that there are no problems or that neoliberal or neoconservative politics will solve the problem, is
entirely not tenable.
I am betting the other way, thanks. If he's the best candidate then why would he not be electable. Voting for the best of the worse seems real dumb to me. It got us what we got which is a one party system called accurately demopublican. As far as impeachment Cheny and Bush deserve that more than anything. Congress is doing nothing anyway or worse. Congresss has already given up the constitution. I say let them do their constitutional duty and fulfill their role, and impeach those criminals who deserve to be impeached. Most comnsfrtitutional lawyers say that they are definitely guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. This congress has turned away in denial and corruptionj (if you have noticed). They also should be impeached. Jeeze You know congress isn't doing its job anyway. They claim that they just don't have time to read the bill;s. Well I think that is called having a staff. C'mon they sound like Cheney/Bush -- duh "we didn't know". You know getting the impeachment on the congressional record will at least look better for the US down the line when things fall apart. Now you can blame the congress and the American people for the oncoming collapse, but at least if impeachment was done, then Cheney/Bush could at least be held accountable. In either case they won't be around when the chicken come home to roost. I believe that it is the responsibility of congress to ENFORCE the constitution when the executive branch vilolates it. In fact that is what the constitution says. So why would you oppose the constitution? Yes that is a question since there exists very good evidence that the constitution has been violated. Impeachment is not Ralph's only issue. As a matter of fact he has many issues and he has the intelligence to talk about it. If you still believe that there is a two party system in America, then you haven 't been paying attention. So my question put to you Pam is, did you watch the video link of Ralph in Philadeplhia? Do you know Nader is saying on the issues? It's a big WOW!

Don'e....I'm going to watch the video from C-Span before I reply. It's a bit choppy and I'd like to correct that so I can concentrate on what
Ralph is saying.
I have no doubt, actually, that he will say much I agree with, and frankly, I mostly agree with your comments here, with the exception of the issue of impeachment. Perhaps I have become too jaded, cynical, whatever you want to call it (untrusting?) about our political processes to extend my energies in that direction. As much as I would hope to see real change in government, I honestly don't believe it can happen without a 'revolution' of sorts. People have to rise up and rebel against this status quo. But will they do this in sufficient numbers to effect the change we need? I don't really believe so (of course, perhaps I am admitting here to being part of the problem). So, I decided some time ago that I would be 'the change I wish to see in the world,' or put another way, I would be a leader within my own sphere of influence, and though I'm not certain that's 'enough,' it's what I can do, or what I am willing to I do appreciate your knowledge and passion on this topic. More later... Pam |

I've voted against a candidate many times by rationalizing the vote cast as the less damaging to our culture, economy, environment.
I agree the demopublicans are homogenizing, crossing lines from neo-liberalism to neo-conservatism,both advocating laisse fare. Let nature take it's course,is a broad statement, like a river,WELL,more like a canal, manmade, the free market taking on the qualities of what appears natural, following the channel carved by powerful industrialist business managers, like George W. Bush. Ralph is correct that powerful oilmen have filtered into the depths of US Government. I support Ralph Nader and Sen. John Conyers in their efforts. It is the job of Senator Conyers,as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, U.S. House Committee on the Judiciary, or (more commonly) the House Judiciary Committee, is a standing committee of the United States House of Representatives. It is charged with overseeing the administration of justice within the federal courts, administrative agencies and Federal law enforcement entities. The Senate version of the committee's most public role involves the approval process of the President's nominees to the Federal benches, including the United States Supreme Court. The Judiciary Committee is also the committee responsible for impeachments of federal officials, and approved articles of impeachment against Andrew Johnson in 1868, Richard Nixon in 1974, and Bill Clinton in 1998. In the new 110th Congress the current chairman of the committee is Democrat John Conyers of Michigan, and the ranking minority member is Republican Lamar Smith of Texas. to oversee the adherance of the judicial system to the constitution. It is his job to bring attention to acts that breach the rules of law, Ralph supports Sen. Conyer's work in this area. Sen. Conyers is doing his job, I've signed numerous petitions, thanks to Sen. Conyers, calling for preceding with the investigation into the activities of the current administration supported by a Democratic Congress and a conservative Supreme Court. Sen. Conyers had reached out to create grassroots awareness, because congressional and court support is not in his favor at this time.
