Love a stripe of peanut butter on my banana, Bill...a staple in my breakfast menu. I don't do bread with it, though...seems like too much food to me.
(not exactly the right emoticon, but maybe you can imagine that puffed-out, cheeks-full look) Sometimes, I can barely get one coated banana down. Them nanners are filling! |

oh I have a good one....I really can't eat alot of wheat....but every now and then is OK...
so I find this wonderful fresh grain bread...with some nuts and seeds in it... ok...then I get a small griddle to grill my bread over some wonderful butter.... I add some mustard (i use dijon) and some herb turkey and munster cheese....let it grill till its browned.... put the other slice on...flip over and grill other side with butter....let the cheese get good and melted.... and boy oh boy...YUMMY! oh makes me hungry! We do not need to be the same, or think the same But we can hold hands as fellow travelers in this life. |

Yowzer, Chicagosusan,
I just made the almond butter ricotta spread, it is impossibly tasty! Referring back to Kelle's hummus, I also made fava bean hummus, another amazement! Mmmm Babs

I've never even eaten a fava bean that I am aware of. Are they difficult to cook? Once cooked, do you just blend with other "hummus-y"
ingredients?

One of my favorites is grilled aged swiss cheese
and paper thin-sliced kosher dills on pumpernickle with a little scrapey-dash of Dijonaise. Mmmmmmmmm. A "scrapey-dash" is.... you put on just a little bit and then scrape most of it off! |

Fava bean hummus....
Yeah, Kelle, I think the rest of the ingredients I added were similar...certainly tahini, and lemon juice, some olive oil...I honestly don't remember what other spices I put. I am not so diligent about remembering what I put in recipes. I think I have some sort of challenge when trying to read and execute recipes from the written word, I am much more comfortable winging cooking. Something seems to always get lost in translation when I try to read then cook! Stuff like flow2's "scrapey-dash" works well for me, though.
I may well have added some ayurvedic style spices... Fava bean prep is a little time consuming. I shelled than par-boiled them, and then you need to remove the outer layer of the bean itself, the bright green bean is inside a casing that you want to remove. It's yummy! Babs |

Babs - I made your almond butter/ricotta/honey spread and have been eating it on Pink Lady apples. It is friggin' delicious. I can't get enough!
Thank you for sharing. And I think I had heard that fava beans were a little high maintenance. :-)
