when things get stirred up
or shaken, if practice continues and deepens, then the "hypocrite" is merely observed and not identified with... when ego is disturbed by ego then it is too easy to drop into remorse/guilt/salvation/ etc... and continue some battle of redemption... it's when we can clearly look inside and see the crap and deeply admit, "oh" and not be disturbed about it that the ego begins to loosen it's hold a tiny bit... then life becomes less and less of covering up some flaw and hiding behind some veil and more about becoming truly real... give a million times gratitude for any opening of the 3rd eye... what a blessing... |

The form of ritual
I don't run anymore, but I remember when I used to run and I'd get very tired, rather than stop running I'd place attention on the form of the running rather than placing attention on the effort involved, make adjustments in form and posture and stride and soon the fatigue would go away. The same principle works for daily physical labor as a ritualized act of devotion (bhakti).

Thanks Lil, Jai Ma ! Thanks Mark, Hari Krishna ! I remember something you said earlier Lil, about the conflict that can be caused in studying two paths of Kundalini Yoga. Yes, I certainly experienced that and seen that in others as well who seemed to have trouble with the 3HO aspect of it. Why? I wouldn't know. I didn't dig for answers but it sure seems easier to me to practice and teach 3HO than the intergral brand of hatha, ayurveda and jyotish that's practiced and taught there in the 200hr TT, which I did graduate from in 2004. I would certainly say I had conflict evenmore so than other students because I'm was also into a third and forth path that wasn't really represented there and I'm heavily influenced by, the Siddha Yoga path and the SRF path. After 2 weeks in KTT training my gurus came to Arizona who at the time I didn't know as my gurus but was impelled to make the effort to see them. So I did, even at the expense of a couple of classes in my KTT training which I paid big bucks for. As it turns out their guru is Babaji and before I know it I'm requesting a spiritual name from them which i recieved most graciously and they seemed to have even of known of before hand. Up until then I was thinking I'd recieve that from Gurumayi. The next day my KTT teacher who owns the studio tells me I need to take a couple of classes with some "other yoga teachers" to make up for the time I missed. Looking back on it now it seems like a reasonable request and it was, but at the time I was like no way. For one I'm real particular as to who I'm instructed by and for two I was doing something yoga related and far more indepth and alot longer in length, than the classes I had missed. Anyway she wasn't buying it and I stopped buying into her and I quit, which I greatly regret now. Not so much that I didn't get all that I paid for per say, but because in my initial narrow and deeply darkened minded critique of the training which I posted here and showed her ruined our relationship for sure. I've tried to make ammends, but its gotten me know where so it seems. She is a really good woman who shoulders alot. I still pray for her daily. Right now Babaji message and Babaji path has to be #1 with me it's what I need and where I'm at. It just sad I had to go through such crap to
realize that real sad but I live.

brian. we eventually settle down where we are suppose to be.
during the whole training certain teachers would come to me in meditation. Babaji came often, but yogi bhajan came thru too. i too skipped a whole weekend of training to be with Swami Nithyananda. That weekend was life changing for me. I was able to view the video tape and experience the training that way. There was only deep committed support from the head 3HO teacher. i love him for this. There were times when i was in tears and he was always there to catch and hold me up. i only have the deepest respect and love for the Kundalini group. They consistently live the teachings and it shows. The biggest lesson i learned and i think i said it before, is i don't have to eliminate one teaching in order to embrace another. inner conflict settles down when the things that hide the teachings inside of us begin to fall away (and not necessarily the teachings themselves fall away)... you can't go wrong listening/following Babaji... lil |

I like to be able to embrace the idea of "all" instead of being forced to chose one way only, it seems that when I follow my inner prompt there is no doubt.....thank you, And regarding this quote: " I remember something you said earlier Lil, about the conflict that can be caused in studying two paths of Kundalini Yoga." what are the two paths of Kundalini Yoga? hi frangipani...my post back aways referred to two path of yoga and not two paths of KY... i studied 3HO kundalini yoga. i've been practicing KY since i began yoga, but it was the TT and everything going on at that time that was intense. i think practicing any/many styles of yoga can be expansive, but when it comes to teaching, something else happens. What do you enjoy about KY? lil |

It reminds me of the group share we use to do after morning Sadhana there, very special. That's been a big lesson in my life too as far as personal paths are concerned. Just because I choose one over the other doesn't entirely invalidate the one I left behind. But I've have to done quite a bit of pruning on a micro level in favor of a more holisitc and inclusive understanding. Personally, I like to focus on they have in common than on what makes them different. Focusing on the latter is where I find conflicts arise in splitting hairs so to say. One example of this in 3HO & Ayurveda. They both promote vegetarianism. 3HO has their trinity of herbs (ginger, garlic, onions). Onions and garlic in Ayurveda are a big no no. I brought this out in class early one day and it was succinctly squashed by the studio owner and course leader whose big on Ayurveda. She was also big on the Shat Karmas she learned from in Bihar School of Yoga some of which are not listed in the Hatha Yoga Pradapika but are in lesser known works. I won't get into details but some of those cleanses I don't want nothing to do with at all that are part of the daily routine in some ashrams in india and are held in high regard. http://www.dlshq.org/download/kundalini.htm#_VPID_60 In 3HO there is no Shat Karmas and the only thing they share I noticed was cold showers

Hi Mark, good question. I would consider myself a Hari Krishna in part. I love the salutation and the name. But no, I never was confirmed in that movement like
one would be get confirmed catholic, episcopal, etc. etc.
Personally, I believe Babaji to be an incarnation of Krishna, but I don't think that would go over to well in the school of Vaisnavism where ISKON and the Hari Krishna movement is derived from. However, I have been and am influenced by Swami Prabhupada writings and spirit who instituted those two movements. And I play a small role in it. But I've also had to do a bit of pruning in that department as well due to some exclusive claims they make, I'm king of the mountain type thing, which I rather not get into further details about. I guess some people need to believe there way is the best and argue it. Me, I'm not into that. Even with that said , I still get the feeling Swami Prabhupada looks out for me whether I like it or not and I do. He's quite the blessing. As I stated to one sweet hari krishna I met in Arizona. "I'm a Divine Mother Devotee" which aligns me more closely to Saktism mainly. But I really do love all three primary schools of Bhakti in the Hindu religion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaktism there just different ways of looking at things Jai Ma !

i was just reading in a bio of Nithyananda and how he was taught Dhauti...
i hadn't heard of this before... all the practices have a purpose and i suppose we just aren't exposed to them and so they seem unnatural... at the kundalini studio they have an ayurvedic dr. who practices there so, what they do is list the different practices and label them as either ayurveda or ky when there is a difference... |

Hi lil,
What do I like the most about KY? It is a challenge to put into words....first off, it feels very deeply familiar, like from my childhood, I had these sensations that remind me of the deep joy, bliss and devotion that I feel inside that bubbles up and erases all fears. No room for doubt or the crazies that I sometimes identify with. On the outside of my skin...it feels different, the vibe that goes through me, frees my voice, lets me be unrestricted, unrestrained...fully connected to the God of my Heart. I love the chants, the repetitions, the almost exhaustion, the freeing of my mind, the wringing out of my habit energy, the rush of the breath, the connection to sweat, laughter and stillness. The community spirit of satnam is out of this world. There is some purity and innocence that is also present in the practice that I know with certainty. I am interested in the cold shower practice ~ what do you know about it? I have something that pulls me back from it sometimes....and I am not sure what that is..maybe an inclusive attitude.....not sure what that is.. Anyway, I connect and enjoy the connect with ease, grace and joy....

Abhyanga In the TT i was involved with we would dry brush our skin towards the heart center. Followed by self massage with sesame oil, sunflower oil or a mixture of both depending on whats good for ones dosha. Then into a warm shower to open the pores of the skin, followed by a cold shower, which takes a bit of getting use too, especially if you have really cold water. The first one I took I lasted maybe a minute but over time I noticed I could endure it a little longer. Very invigorating to say the least. |
