Hey Marianne!
I started writing this about a week and a half ago but never finished it. I had forgotten all about it until I read the last line of your post. (Sung to the tune of Beatles' Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da) When your mind is spinnin like a hurricane You're feelin disconnected and you're stressed Here's a simple mantra that will ease your pain It will remind you Life is Lovely and you're blessed blah-blah-blah, blah-blah-blah, blah-blah-blah-BLAH! BLAH-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-BLAH! In a couple of breaths you will know you're home sweet home Your yogi tribe is dancin in your heart They're singin blah blah blah and OM sweet OM

Susie Flow...you rock, girl! Love that, except now I can't get it out of my head! The Beatles would definitely approve....
Marianne...I am sorry to learn you'll have to rove around the school system next year. However, it sounds like good fortune for the students in Mrs. C's class, I suspect they will be VERY happy to have you there. All that defensiveness points to something (stating the obvious) and kids are so aware of everything (again stating the obvious)... You won't be "subbing", you'll be teaching there almost half the week, so "persist, gently" ( Erich) and make it your own. I have no doubt you will be a breath of fresh air
to them--as you are to everyone!!

Suzi, that's great!!
Thanks, everyone. My common sense confirms all your supportive comments, and the blahblahblah is helpful for the 2 oclock in the morning waking up in a panic anxiety mode. I'll deal with it. |

and we're always here and love you dearly.
you ARE a wonderful teacher and i'm sure the students (at least some of them) will adore you with out any need to 'tell' them to be respectful. anyway i hope ms. 'put things back where you found them' will soften herself and not make it hard or take any of the school system blah blah blah out on you. hugs and love rona

Thanks for telling your story about the next challenge you are looking at....I see you, learning and leading thru this change....and
I have been hearing thee Blah Blah Blah...mantra as a jazz improvisation......bbbbbbbbbbbbb la la la la la la laaaaaa HHhhhhh Hhhhhhhhhhhhh BLAAAAAAAAA AAA AAA AAAA AAAA AAAA
This might not look like what I was imagining....and it could be like a rap or something syncopated. or....in rounds like the monkey chants.....do you know them? There are in a movie...where there is no talking.....just touring world cultures...one is a culture in Thailand or some place like that...and all the men sit in a concentric circle...one monkey leader in the center and they.....dumm dummm dummm one side sings that Chick chick chick the other side sings...we did it in Santa Barbara at the Lighting in a bottle festival....a group from Berkeley came down to teach it.....it was a total high experience...with yoga like movements... I will look for the film to reference this monkey chant performance....it is awesome....once I saw the film...I really wanted to do it in person and I loved it sooooo much when a group of 50 + folks did it live wow so the blah blah mantra could turn into a group chant movement...I'm going to try it tomorrow |

Found one source for anyone interested in a powerful group energy mantra that reminds me of the Blah Blah mantra
http://www.lightninginabo...nt.php and there is a movie that has no dialogue or conversation that captures the Balinese monkey chant - it is most freeing and inspiring Blah, blah blah..helps me breath deeper..funny how that works..love to you now and now F |

It occurred to me last night that a lot of the self-criticism that I engage in comes from my perceptions of other people's opinions and reactions to me, or
my judgements about myself. No suprise there.. and for years, the common wisdom, "Don't worry about what others think, etc", has never been that
helpful .
Here's the thing.. that really is helping, finally... if I don't know who I am, really, and don't have a good clear perception of myself as an expression of the infinite, of course I am going to try to get that knowlege from other sources. It's the same as the search for love, of course.. the need to know who we truly are.. because we ARE love. And if I don't know that, I am going to be endlessly trying to get theat knowlege from someplace else, which is crazy making.. "I must be ok, they like me.. I must be an idiot, because I fucked up, etc, etc," The analogy that occured to me was this: if you didn't have access to a mirror that accurately showed you what your external self looked like, you would constantly be looking in mirrors wherever you go.. except that what if none of them where accurate? What if they were all funhouse mirrors, with the image changing depending on the strucuture of each mirror? So you'd always be going, "Whoa, I am a big fat cow ".. "Shit, my face is all squished up", etc, etc.. If I really know who I am, I won't feel driven to keep looking in all those other mirrors to see the truth.. If I happen to see them in passing, the false images that show up are seen for what they are.. reflections that are skewed by the surface they appear on. Yea!!

Now that is brilliant! I'm going to send it to a friend of mine who teaches mindfulness meditation. We've been having lots of discussions about the
stories we tell ourselves about ourselves (or others). Is the story fiction or non-fiction? But this idea of reflection is another cool way of looking at the
same thing. Thanks again. Amazing post.
