Ineresting Bird Sightings |

Hi Susan and all Birders/bird lovers on the board. From time to time Susan and I have shared sightings of birds via hijacking another thread! Although I am not
a serious birder I do keep my eyes open for rare or unusal sightings. I never report these in an official way because my feathered "Relations"
don't really care for hordes of people or banders etc. I think this is a safe place to share my sightings.

Ooohhhhhhh...I saw my first Blackburnian this spring migration. It was a male too, and they are drop-dead gorgeous.
I saw three Roseate Spoonbills just now...Dan and I took a quick trip out to the Pass to see who was out and about. They are a beautiful color.... http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/roseate_spoonbill/id

Cool color! I got a very close view of the warbler - he was at about shoulder height and then dropped to the ground and looked directly at me for a few minutes
before flying up ino a birch and then up to the tops of the big spruce trees which is their habitat. No Camera with me, but a very good and surprisingly close
look.

It was a Robin that was dancing for her mate...I loved watching them.

Awwww...Robins are great. I miss them. We will not have them back here until winter.
We are loaded with Green Herons on our canal right now. Dan and I saw 6 as we brought the boat back in yesterday. They are a fascinating bird, and one of the few who know how to use "tools".... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNTw7GH325U Go birdie!

Cool Video Susan. We have Great Blue Herons here and a heronry close by. Two years ago I saw a couple of herons in flight and one of them was a Wurdemann's
Heron which is only in Florida - a long way from home here - one of the rare ones not reported!

I was walking this evening in the Bosque Park along the Rio Grande with a friend, and we scared up a Great Blue from just a few feet away! There are a lot of
Gambol's quail around here... lot's of babies right now.

Sri, here is your invitation to come scope them out. This is on the way up into the Gila Wilderness. Last trip up there, we saw a wild turkey & several
babies. Redstarts, ravens, more than one variety of woodpecker... lots of cool birds up there. I heard a noise and looked out the window at my office a
couple of days ago, and there was a roadrunner perched on the hood of my secretary's car peering back at me.

OMG...I would LOVE to see a roadrunner! I tried hard when I was in San Antonio after the first Gathering, but skunked out. Thanks for the invite, Miss Karen. I
hope someday I can take you up on that.
