The concept of creating your reality by managing your thoughts is exceptionally powerful for me. Not that I am expert at it. But, I know it to be a genuine dynamic that influences how life's scenarios play out.

The discussion about responding to violence and using ones inner thoughts prompts me to share a true story where thought-power trumped violent intent, by confronting it.

I was living in Miami Beach and worked in a small motel where I also lived. During the off season these lovely family destinations became like deserted, end-of-the-world, outposts. This was when sleazy elements including Pimps,came around and would rent rooms pretending to be a legitimate guest and use them for; well you get it.

The owner did not want the property used like that and since I was the only live-in member of the staff he asked me to discourage them when I could. (Being young and foolish I said Sure. Why not?) I was studying martial arts, but in all honesty I was not very dangerous to anyone (and I am not very big either).

Anyway, getting to the point Saturday night I saw a Working Woman and a John heading for a room and I asked them to go back to the Lobby and get a refund that they could not use the motel.

Later that evening I was taken by surprise by a pretty muscular pimp who followed me into an out of the way parking lot. I can recall the details of the dialog, but basically he was threatening me and said specifically he intended to hurt me.

Heres the thought-power part. I knew I was no match for him on any level; size, street experience, certainly build. So I told myself O.K. he will win the fight for sure. BUT, no matter what happens, I am going to focus on one thing, I will surely jam my finger into his eye no matter what (sorry, I know thats ugly).

They guy made a couple of more snide remarks and turned around and walked away. I learned a lot that day. When you hear people say fear is the enemy, thats an example of what they mean.
