Over the weekend, I got to spend some time up at SW Sangha retreat center with Michael Freeman, the director there and a Dharma/meditation teacher who has
helped me immensely, with some very neat people from the Silver City sangha, and with Bhante Gunaratana who founded the Bhavana Society and wrote the book Mindfulness
In Plain English which for me, was like finding a book on meditation that's analogous to finding Erich's book on yoga -- in other words, WOW! Here
are a couple of pictures.

Lovely images, Karen, thank you for sharing them. You are radiant, as always (and it appears you have grown quite thin!) I always wondered what Michael looked
like -I had him pictured significantly different! Ah well, can't get em all right. Or in my case, wrong, haha.. I never picture anyone quite right. I wish
I could come out there sometime. I'm gonna miss seeing you, and meeting Robert at Camp Allen. I do hope another opportunity will arise.

Thanks Casey! I was rather lit up by the company there... Bhante G is 82, and looking into his eyes is the most incredible WHOOSH... plus the photographer
totally lights me up as well. And yes, it's an open invitation -- come out any time. Michael is looking exactly the same, and yet vastly different since
the 3 month retreat he did earlier this year. I'm still hoping you serendipitously find yourself at Camp Allen anyway, but if not, we'll miss you big
time!

None to worry, Dear Robert, Karen has issued me an open invitation to come to visit. It doesn't surprise me that you both are there, I feel energy, more
and more in the direction of New Mexico. So I am coming! I would love it if you both were able to show me around the landscape.
Deep bow to you . |

The Brahma Viharas - Mudita | ||
|
Robert sent me this earlier this morning because of a conversation we had yesterday, and I wanted to share it here. Mudita is usually translated as
"sympathetic joy".
karen Mudita is the appreciation of the goodness of others. It seems to me important that we touch the beauty of the world, and the beauty of other peoples' hearts. This acknowledgement nourishes our own hearts, though we may find it difficult indeed to receive other people's goodness. This is something I have noticed in myself. |

Karen, I really like this. Receiving is much harder for me than giving.....I practice..

I have something I wish to share.
I can't get link to appear, so I'll just leave the address and info here. It's from Namgyal Rinpoche. Peace, Love, may we all awaken! www.bodhipublishing.netfirms.co, In Part I Rinpoche presents the principles of the path of enlightenment as well as the classic practices that cultivate it, along with an exploration of the meaning and rich associations of several key Pali and Sanskrit words used in describing the way to compassionate wisdom and liberation. In Part II Rinpoche puts forth a unique approach to healing, its links to faith, karma, and its basis: the full understanding of the laws that guide all life forms. Along with this overview, he suggests many avenues and practices to explore - such as, for example, the use of geometric shapes, colour, Star-Breathing and sound - to bring about total healing for oneself and others. "Before Sakyamuni was, Dharma was. Your work is to study Dharma, not Buddhism. You should always be willing to put things to the test; see if it works. Laws should always be demonstrable, be brought into experience and understood." "It is your duty to be aware of the immense work a million years of evolution has done on your behalf so that you can have this experience of life. As long as we don't know our composition we will not know health."

Chris, I'm glad you liked that. I found it quite touching.
I looked at the web site you posted, and it's one of those that won't let you link to individual pages. The site is Bodhi Publishing - then click on the link on the left that says NEW BOOK: PALEOCHORA DISCOURSES PART 1 & PART 2 |
