Mangrove Cuckoo - 11, Sri - 0
That said, it always gives me a reason to go our and look around again. Which I dearly love to do.
Grateful today for:
The gulf breezes we had at the Ding Darling NWR, which made the temps bearable.
The lunch at Doc Ford's. My brother and I have read all the Randy Wayne White books books (except the latest one), and the bro really wanted to get over to Sanibel and chow down there, when he was visiting a few weeks ago. There just wasn't enough time.....so I bought him a commemorative ball cap from there today. Perhaps it will assuage him.
Got another good bird while we were at the reserve - the Gray Kingbird - so that helps.
And so did the darling little Burrowing Owl in Punta Gorda, on the way home. I just couldn't drive by and not go see him.
I drove with the windows down for miles and miles. It was hot and I stuck to the seat, but I kinda enjoyed remembering what it was like in the old days....my first two cars didn't have a/c....and....they both had vinyl seats. UGH! You could always count on sticking to the seat after about a minute and a half in the car in summer, and then peeling yourself away when it was time to get out. Complete with sweat stains all over your shirt and pants.
