Feeling grateful for:
having my in-laws company for a few more days the clocks being put back an hour last night so it was light and bright when I woke up this morning for being able to snuggle up for a little longer than usual for chatting with my sister in Australia through Facebook plus being extremely grateful that the firework that landed on her son's lap didn't burn him badly (although she did say he will probably be left with a scar)! |

Today, I am grateful to all those who brought a smile to my face today....long-time friends and relatives with pictures and stories of the good old days, new
friends with open hearts... and to the lady in Walgreens, who told me to get in line in front of her because I only had a newspaper and she had 3 items. She
then asked me if I knew today's date, and I laughed and said I did, but only because tomorrow is my birthday. So, when I finished purchasing the paper, she
and the lady in front of me and the cashier all wished me a happy birthday a day early. It was just one of those little special moments in life when strangers
can make you feel like they are not strange at all.

I am grateful that my husband has managed to take a few days off work. Not only has he been able to do clean all the debris from the pine trees from the garage
roof, he has also been able to spend some extra time with his parents whilst they are staying with us

Grateful today for:
Cooler temps this morning...not by much...but still and all....
Oatmeal with hemp seed nuts, Gudrun granolas, wheat bran, and fresh strawberries...polished off with licorice tea. 
An early morning walk around the 'hood at low tide...lots of wading birds and gulls out and about. 
The extra hour of sunlight in the morning now.
A day with no plans.

Gail...Great minds....and all that.
Today I am grateful for the beautiful moon I saw at 5:30 this morning. With the cooler temps, it was so lovely out.
Plus, hoooooting owls.
And flickering candles. 
And an imminent birding trip to Myakka River State Park. Grandstaff and I went there in September and it was HOT. Today should be quite perfect.

Thanks, Becky! It was a really great outing - many Bald Eagles, a Norther Harrier, American Avocets (which I have been hoping to see this fall), and some ducks
are back! YAY! We also had an American Wigeon, which is a nice find....

 The bird kingdom definitely has some strange names, Becky. That's a male wigeon pic I included up there. Suzi sometimes sees a bird in Portugal
that she put a pic up of once, which is a stunner, with another odd name...the hoopoe. Check him out....
But this one is my all-time favorite bird...I just put a video of him up in the Animals thread..... he is the Superb Bird of Paradise, endemic to New Guinea.... 
Is that wild or what??? Believe it or not, that bird's beak is under those eyes and his "smile" is his chest feathers. This is his courtship display. Birds are so cool.

Today is a beautiful day - nice little breeze, instead of the ferocious winds we've been having, pleny o'sun, a loving and kind husband, ditto on the
kitty, great friends, a roof over my head, and a full stomach. Life is superb!
