I loved watching this and seeing the blending and the whole time thinking about the work that went into the planning and editing. Very cool!

Hi Girls and Guys,
, I'm going to tell you all my story in a 'group' mail.
How is it that hurt or lost animals seem to have the 'knack' for knocking on the right door?
It started about 3 days ago, I was sitting in the living room with Sofie, and I thought I heard someone at the
front door. I opened it and there was a hawk sitting/crouching there, with about 5 Mean nasty mockingbirds just bombarding the hell outta the poor
guy.
When I opened the door, everyone flew away. ......when I said he came 'knocking at the door' I wasn't
kidding!
Though the hawk (let's call him Harry) Harry didn't fly very far or very high, just a few feet into the
shrubs to the left of the house. I figured Harry had been sniffing around one of the Mockers nest and he was getting his just due.
The next day, I took Sofie over to see Jacob, (nabor's doxie) and on the way back, on the bed of their truck,
right next to the back window, was Harry again. With another group of Mockers just bombarding him, actually hitting into him, and there he crouched. With
his head up against the trucks windows. So I ran home and got a broom and was chasing away all the Mockers, they retreated a bit, but as I was walking home,
they were right back at him! "little bastards!" I don't know if any of you have any experience with these birds, but they can get NASTY.
They were bombing toward me also, So I hollered for help and Shanna came out and helped.
I can just imagine how foolish we looked.
Harry finally flew another short distance into a tree. We thought that was the end of our Hawk. Figured he got
smart and finally flew away.
Then, this afternoon, I was over on Joanne's back porch and we could hear the Mockers squawking like mad
again. Went the the side of the house and they were dive bombing the shrubs. We (nabor's daughter Shanna) and I chased these birds away and we had the
chance then to check Harry out up close. He was under the shrubs, just sitting there staring at us. I mean we were right next to him, and he didn't
even seem scared. He was looking up like ...help me..help me...
Shanna guarded him while I ran in and called
B E A K S a wildlife rescue place. The lady said if we could capture Harry and take him to this one Vet, about 45
miles from here, she'd pick him up there. She said he probably wouldn't make it thru the nite ,, said he was probably dehydrated and very hungry.
OH...I forgot this part....Sofie had dropped one of her toys awhile ago behind these shrubs, a little furry chipmunk and poor Harry, had his talons stuck
into :Chippy". Probably thought he was food! (I never said Harry was smart....) Just very hungry apparantely.
We got a pet carrier and I went into the shrubs with my broom, and we were able to scoop him right into the
carrier, with Chippy still in his Talons, though we took Chippy away from him, didn't want Harry getting fake fur/fuzz in his mouth.
BEAK lady said if we could get some sugar water into him, and could get a hold of some mice, ..Yea..right...or a
chicken leg to put near him. She said he is probably very dehydrated.
We were out of mice, HA.........., but did have Bojangles fried chicken. So Shanna got a turkey baster with
sugar water and he sucked that up like crazy!. Chopped up the chicken leg and. put that in there and almost immediately he starting eating.
In the meantime, a big storm was coming in just as Shanna and I were heading to the Vet's. I swear I have
never seen it come down so heavy! You all know me and my confidence in driving where i don't know where I'm going AND in the rain at that, so , I
"let" Shanna drive our car, Harry was in the back seat, eating the whole way. He looked a lot better after he got water and food in him.
To end my silly little story, We got Harry to the vet, where they will tend to him tonite, and the B EA K lady
will pick him and the donation for BEAKS that I left tomorrow.
Why I am sending you this story I don't know..but it did have a good ending. And was the most exciting thing
that has happened to me lately!! ha...i know...i do need to 'get a life'.
I think what was so heartwarming was talking to the BEAK lady on the phone, she was almost beggin us to save this
hawk and was sooo appreciative that we were going to make that drive to drop him off where she could pick him up. She was sooo happy and soo grateful that
we saved Harry. I mean it really came from her heart! It made it all worth it.
....that's my story and I'm stickin to it!!
luv,

Love you, Ma!
Did you find out what kind of hawk he was? Smart one for sure to have knocked on your door. I had a friend who did raptor rehab at her home, and we released a great horned owl for her one time because she wanted to get it farther away from people than her place, and my in-laws house at the time was pretty remote. My niece did volunteer work at a rehab center for awhile, too. Wonderful people who do that work.

Love you guys,
Karen, I was re-posting this letter. Actually my friend Jan was the one who got the knock. I met her 5-6 years ago on the whole approach forum, we were both supporting each other on a candida cleanse. We have both been away from the program for a while now After Robyn's story about Brownie, Kye's Dog being run over |

Awww... that is some awesome story! Totally restored my faith in human nature - loved it. I had to smile at the thought of the poor bird hanging on to the toy
thinking it was food and the comments of your friend, Ma! I hope they were able to follow up on Harry and that all is well with him!

That is amazing!! I love it when animals that are normally natural rivals or enemies can completely blow away our natural preconceived notions about
relationships in nature.
When i was growing up we had a hobby farm and I had a horse. One day when I was out washing out the water tub I could tell Andy (my horse) was in a really playful mood. I started chasing him around and then he would turn around and start chasing me. It was absolutely awesome..... a magical moment. It's one on those things you look back on as an adult and think" wow I totally could have gotten hurt ... a 12 year old versus a 500 lb horse"but that's the joy of childhood, magical moments just tend to happen because your not conditioned by fear.
