The other night I had one of those amazing "wow" yoga classes, y'know, the kind you wish you had every time. Anyway, we did a lot of poses that
built up for a final, very challenging sequence. Didn't get it on the first try, but managed to pull it off the second time around.
The build up: twists and a little core work and shoulder openers to prepare for 4 foundation poses: sirsasana II, padmasana, lolasana, bakasana.
Once you're feeling comfortable with all 4 of these poses, this builds up to the final sequence: sirsasana II, bring legs into padmasana, lower legs and twist legs towards the right side and using core strength to lift up into arm balance (legs still in padmasana) and then go back to where you started by bringing the head back down, legs back up, release padmasana so you're in sirsasana II.
I suppose you could then repeat the same sequence on the other side leading with the left foot into padmasana, but that might be in another lifetime for me as I was pretty darn cooked after just one side! But very empowering--I really had to take it slow and get into the breath and engaging core strength to pull it off. We were all panting and smiling after trying this one.
