Aw, thanks, Suzi, babs, and Ronaji! Enjoyed the Neruda poem, Ronsie!

We knew we'd be busy with storm preparations today for T.S. Fay, so we celebrated yesterday instead..... went on a scuba diving trip to Venice, looking for sharks' teeth, and then out to dinner last night. We gave each other chocolates too, of course.

We're pretty storm-ready now - got all the plants and birdfeeders in, patio furniture up, and the boats are secured. We're waiting until farther along to do the storm shutters, if it becomes necessary. They should only take a half hour or so to close up .... or so the salesman told us last year. We took advantage of the MY SAFE FLORIDA program then, where the state reimburses you half the cost of storm shutters. This might be our first chance to try them out. We shall see.....anyway, we're as prepared as we know how to be - besides the afore-mentioned outside preps, we've got the gas tanks topped off, extra $, and lots of easy foods and water. The only thing we don't have is a generator. I voted for one, but Dan wants to wait. In the aftermath of Hurricane Charley, which skunked us out of our original wedding date 4 years ago, the state reimbursed folks if they bought a generator. So, that side of Dan is hoping that if we do end up needing one, the cost will be the state's and not ours. And my typical Girl Scout, let's-be-overly-ready, side says who cares what it costs - I don't want to be hot and watch my food rot while we have no electricity for 3 weeks.

Anyway, with any luck, it will be more of a tropical storm than a hurricane, and the damage will be minimal.
