LOL thanks for all your comments.
Suzi, are you turning into my mother? LOL, the first thing she said when she saw it was, "That's great, now all we need to do is get rid of that hair so we can see it." She has never liked me with long hair, but it's going nowhere - well apart from the receding part at the front :-D |

That tattoo has a Goth like look but not exactly evil. I also like the shading is it actual size and where did you get the idea?
I understand the receding hairline it receded all the way off my head. The length of time spent getting work done can and is ritualistic, once the endorphins start its a better high than you can get from running. Very nice work who did it? As long as there is an openness to ourselves and the universe we can fully be the evolved being we were always meant to be.... |

Hey Scott, you could always do a topknot á là Godfrey Devereux. Hmmm...doesn't Shiva also use one?

This is my friend Kelly's tattoo, when I saw it last year it made me realise what I wanted, though something a little different.
With that in mind I kept looking on the internet til I found something I liked, something a little more martial. The tattooist, Billy Hay at Custom Inc in Glasgow, suggested the shading to make it look like there's a light source. I'm not exactly sure the
actual size LOL, I can only see it in a mirror.

WOW! some lovely tattoos. I love the last 2 back of neck tattoos ,very nice.
I am in the process of getting my back done. It is a Phoenix. It is quite big,the highest point is the tip of a wing on the top of my right shoulder and the lowest point is a tail feather on my left asana cheek!!! The outline was done last year and have had a long break as I was in Italy (escaping the Goa monsoon and working) and Meiko(the tattooist) was in Japan also escaping the monsoon. So have only just started the colouring I have had one clouring session of 3 hours and will have to have 2 or 3 more sessions!!!!! The next session is next week ....not looking forward to it at all!!!! it hurts!!! It took along time to find just the right phoenix,I had some ideas but cannot draw so I talked with Meiko about some ideas and she made up some drawings for me...it took a few goes to get it right and it kept getting bigger. But am very happy with it. Will post pics soon . Thanks for showing yours....am inspired to have more despite the pain. Alison

that doesn't even look like a tatoo, scott. it looks so 3D, like it was placed there on your body during some ritual...

Wow Scott have you any in color or is there any color?
Do you ever get giddy duiring a session? When I was getting my back piece I took Matt our middle son, we were into it for about the 2nd hour, took a break then came back. Matt said the words chocolate pudding and I just broke out and laughed uncontrollably. It was the endorphins what a goof!

Maybe a little colour in this one for the Kanji in red, but mostly black and grey with some white or silver highlights probably. First session was all line
work so no colour or shading.
No giddiness, I don't seem bothered by tattoo pain like some are... let me point out that I don't ENJOY it, but it only lasts a few seconds at a time, well within my capabilities. The dragon is chasing a scroll with the Japanese Kanji "Mu" (= nothingness/emptiness) on it, it's meant to symbolise my own efforts in my Zen practice... a friend told me I need to give him a name, so I called him Ryūjin, who was the Japanese dragon god of the sea... Can't wait for the rest to be done, here's a better pic showing how awesome his horns are...

Damn Scott, you are so completely transformed from when you first started posting.
I love this thread. I am such a weenie. I can't imagine having a tattoo. Not because of the pain but because I can't figure out anything that I would want to mar my skin with. But Chad was really sweet when we talked about it one night and said, "Your skin is so beautiful, a tattoo would look great on your skin." But to me they do look like blemishes and I like that my skin is so fair. The only one I ever wanted an OM symbol on my third eye which is a really intense thing to do ...change my face in such a radical way. I think I should try out a henna tattoo first there to see if that would be something I could live with. Probably would never have the guts. Also, when I first thought about getting that yoga was a lot less popular and now I think the om symbol is getting a bit cliche so i don't know, doesn't resonate as much as it used to. Maybe one day if something really appeals to me but nothing has really popped out.
Be the realized
teacher.

I AGREE When I look down at my feet I always see them [as] heavily adorned -tattooed, colored, jeweled . . maybe one day I will do something there.. . |

Scott, that's beautiful!
I've only ever seen one tattoo that tempted me. It was on a young man working in a salon who gave me a pedicure, and it was a very elaborate & flowing goldfish -- outline only in indigo ink in very, very fine lines and painstaking detail. He had it done somewhere on the west coast. A friend of mine who is an artist designed her own (a sea turtle) and had it done on her inner ankle -- asked her about that placement, and it's so she can easily see it. |

That's exacty what I have and where I have it, the thing I love about my turtle is the wave in the center |

When I look down at my feet I always see them [as] heavily adorned -tattooed, colored, jeweled . .Casey you are seeing your feet in a past life. One of the ways to see your past lives is to visualize your legs and feet from the knees down. See as much detail as you can - skin color, kind of footewear, etc. You may only see one visual or you can morph through many incarnations. Interesting technique. ps No tatts here. I thinks some of them are amazing, but I have a strong image of what they might look like at 80 or 90 in the Dr.'s office or Nursing Home when the body isn't quite so fit anymore.
