Hi
I wonder if anyone has any advice they could give me please about one of my students who I teach on a weekly basis.
My student is very fit active lady but recently for some reason every time she moves into a wide leg forward bend, she has a sharp pain in the rib area just below her breast bone. The pain is so sharp that she almost has to leap out of the position. This only happens in Upavista Konasana and in Prasarita Padottanasana, in the latter the pain comes when she takes her body further than her torso being parallel to the floor. These are the only two positions that it occurs in and she has a good range of movement in all other directions. Asking her more about the pain she says its almost a constricting pain almost making her breathless with it. I have asked her to be aware this week to see if the pain happens at any other time, and if needs be if it occurs again this week to see a physio who will hopefully be able to help a lot more than I can. Has anyone any ideas or advise on what it could be? Many thanks.
