thanks Erich for that idea...
also, thanks casey for sharing that about ascension... i guess there is a special group(s) which calls what you describe as "ascension" instead of enlightenment ? or are you/they seeing something different? |

The reason I posted that excerpt from Raj is because he is saying something very interesting and very important, and I wanted to share my enthusiasm for the
idea.
I know I am generalizing, but there are usually 2 camps: One camp views the universe, consciousness and the human experience as the random and chaotic evolutionary outcome of physical matter, the "chance result of some physical interactions," having nothing to do with Intelligence, Wisdom, Heart or Principle, and that when you die it's over, or that when the physical matter that comprises your body wears out you die, and then it's over. This doesn't feel right, to me. I've had too many past life recalls and communications from the "dead" to believe this anymore. Life goes on. Life was happening before this incarnation, and you don't really die when you die. I'm sure of it. The other camp, from which a plethora of spiritual literature arises, promotes the idea "I am not a body." That is, I AM NOT A BODY, but I'm IN one, I'm wearing one, I look like one, and I'm having a physical experience, but this isn't all there is, and one day I ("I" meaning the spiritual essence that I really am) will drop this mortal coil or sheath, leave the physical universe, and venture into subtler realms. This is closer to the truth, in my opinion, but is still a limited comprehension of what's really happening. And what Raj is saying, as far as I can tell, (though he didn't quite say it in this specific excerpt) is that, yes, true, YOU ARE NOT A BODY, you are individualized Spirit, conscious Individuality, BUT you WILL always have a body. YOU will always have that which identifies your presence-no matter where you are, no matter which realm you are in, no matter how subtle or dense it is. Therefore, stop denying it as something un-you. Stop defining it as something other than you. Stop trying to rise above it or get beyond it. Stop treating it as an "it." Stop calling it an illusion, or a temporary abode or housing for the soul. Stop merely putting up with it because, at the moment, you seem to have no other choice. And stop thinking that one day soon-ish, in the not-too-distant future, your body will by design or chance wear out and you will die, and the ride will be over. Instead, understand it for what it is. Because to the degree that you decree it is not-you, or that at some future moment you won't have a body because you won't need one, you are operating with an inaccurate mindset about how life works and what bodies are, which causes your body to lose its health and vitality and YOU suffer the consequences. It will then seem as though you are suffering the natural consequences of being in a body, and because most everyone on the planet is in agreement about this we don't encounter much opposition to the idea. But, actually, you will be experiencing the unpleasant side effects of an inaccurate mindset. The physical degeneration and loss of function that most all of us are experiencing is not inherent in having a body, Raj says, but is the result of our various misunderstandings and inaccurate belief systems about life and what it means to be the embodiment of Spirit. Whereas, health and vitality is the natural state of one who knows what's true, and is therefore something ALL OF US CAN LOOK FORWARD TO EXPERIENCING as we get clearer and clearer about what's true. This isn't to put the body on a pedestal. It's just to put an appreciation and accurate understanding of it where appreciation and understanding is due, rather than believing untruths, limited appraisals, and then experiencing (suffering) the consequences. A clearer comprehension of what's true involves the realization that the movement and ongoingness of LIFE is a forever thing, and that so long as there is life there will be the evidence or manifestation or presencing of life. Life is alive and it looks like something. In more traditional verbiage, so long as there is GOD (the Great Mystery), there will be the Body of God. So long as there is BEING, there will be the obviousness of what BEING is being as something manifest. Therefore, for us, since we are the specific and unique Self-expressions of omnipresent BEING-Being being Itself as us-"having a body" is part of what it will always be about. We are not spiritual beings IN a body, as though the body was something different from the Spirit that we are. But the Spirit that we are is recognizable and experienceable, and it's this visibility and tangibility of the conscious Individuality that we are that we are calling "body." And what Raj is saying is 1) you are not a body, but 2) you will always have one, and 3) (!!!) you will always be having the one you're already being. This is where it gets interesting. He says your body (your presence) is Light, that it is in fact already eternal, and that it only seems like something un-light-like because of our beliefs and misconceptions. He says you will always be the Light that you already are. What we call death, and what seems to us now like dropping an old or young used-up physical body, is simply analogous to a snake shedding its skin. At no point does the snake become unembodied. It simply sloughs off the outer layer and slithers on. Except, for us, more and more, as we grok the deathlessness of eternal life, there will then no longer be any sloughing. There will only and always be the radiance you already are. And that when you KNOW this, rather than BELIEVING something untrue, then the seemingly inevitable enactment of a so-called death-whether it is long and drawn-out, full of suffering, or quick-will become a thing of the past. Ongoing life-what I have called Life Only!-because of the obviousness of deathlessness, will become obvious as the experience we are obviously having. And so, I posted that excerpt because I liked the idea, not that it's dangerous to your health to believe your body is temporary or illusory, but that it is to our benefit to understand what manifestation is. Because when we have a clearer appreciation of the facts, whatever they turn out to be, then, as Raj says in that excerpt, "God will win and we will win." That is, we are bound to experience what's true (our perfection, or whatever it turns out to be) because only what is Real will endure. And so, we "might as well begin to win today by not denying God right where God is, and becoming curious to see God (that which is real, true) where you didn't think God was." I find that totally fascinating. That is, you are not a body, but you will always have one, and you will always be the one you already are. You are not a body. You are Spirit, Mind, Presence manifest, embodied-not IN a body, but appearing as one. This means that even though you "have" or "are" a body, the body is not the decider. The body is not in charge. That's the point. That is, you need not be a victim of what the body does, because it can't do anything by itself! When you get this, when you get the order straight, then things start clicking into alignment and harmony. That is, you are not in a body and you are not a victim to what the body does. You can only ever be a victim to your own ignorances. Again, this is important to understand because it seems like this very physical body is in charge and that we are subject to the whims and genetics of what we were born with. But, if you are not the body, and the body is not an illusion, and you ARE Spirit, and the Spirit that you are will always be manifest, then death really is an illusion, not an actual event, and all the disease and suffering most all of us experience on the way to death could theoretically be circumvented because our real DNA is G-O-D. He's saying that when we understand things clearly we will no longer think of our body as temporary or illusory, or that it has nothing to do with the Great Mystery. Our existence and body is NOT temporary, so stop thinking it is. Our existence and body IS eternal, so start thinking of it as such. Because if you are not regarding your body or existence in its true light as being the eternal effulgence of the conscious spiritual Individuality that you are, then you ARE projecting its future demise, death. And with the power of your mind you are thereby scripting a death experience in your future. But, your body is only what it is because YOU are what you are. And you and I are what we are because the Great Mystery, also called God by many, is being Itself as us. This brings us full circle, everything existing within the context of God, Infinite BEING. And one more thing, if I may. This is from Raj, March 27, 2005: Raj: And what I want you all to be aware of is the significance in the fact that the Resurrection was a resurrection of what? A physical body, what would be called a physical body. How was this significant? Because I'll tell you something: Matter cannot be resuscitated. Matter cannot be regenerated. Matter cannot be transfigured. Matter cannot be healed. It is generally accepted in the current belief system that when I resurrected I was beyond the human condition, that everything about me was Spirit. And yet, there was my figure, recognizable, except to Mary initially in the garden. This is important, because I keep telling you that your body is the visibility and tangibility of your Individuality. And your Individuality is God-derived, and is therefore eternal. That which renders it visible and tangible is equally eternal, is equally divine. And that's one of the things you have evidence of in the Easter story, the event commemorated by Easter. It demonstrated that what you call "the body" survives death. That which identifies you and renders you experienceable survives this element of existence that is seen only through or in the human condition-the experience of death, the event of death. It's only seen in the state of ignorance that you are in when you have forgotten what your Source is, and therefore What You Are. |

Raj talks of 4 dimensions, the lesser 3 within the 4th, like circles within circles, except that the 4th does not have a boundary line around it. It is not
finite. It is infinite. It is Infinity, Consciousness, Mind, Awareness, Presence… that which seems to us, at the moment, like a Great Mystery. He says there
are not more than 4, and that it is not necessary to conceive of more in order to awaken to a clear perception of What's Really Happening. That's fine
with me. I can't say that I know what the truth is in that regard, but I do trust Raj, and so I'm leaning in that direction. If I learn otherwise and
discover that there are many dimensions, I'll change my mind. Not a biggy to me, at the moment.
He also says that when you know it is all energy, Spirit, then nothing can hurt you. You won't bump your head into a wall, you could walk through walls, you could ingest poison, you could put your hand in a flame. But he suggests that until you're clear on this, then do what common sense suggests. Don't put your hand in flames, eat clean food, etc and as you're doing things in a way that makes sense to you now, be open to understanding things in a bigger, more cosmic sense. Eventually, gradually, usually, it becomes obvious that it's all God and that, therefore, there is nothing to fear and nothing to be defended against. So, it's not about going to a different dimension. It's more in the realm of realizing the circles within circles thing. Expanding, as Casey said. The 3rd is within the 4th, and the 4th isn't somewhere else. Its right here, unseen, unnoticed, embracing everything that is seen. That's why Raj's main "technique" is CURIOSTY. Be curious to see the more of what's gotta be here. If you're seeing anything, then at least you are seeing ¾'s of the truth. Be curious to see more, right there where anything is. |

Erich, Just as the year can be expressed in terms of itself (ie: in terms of a year or "1" number), it can also be expressed in terms of seasons (4's), months (12's), days, minutes, seconds, nanoseconds, etc. etc.. - and so too can the dimensional existence. I hear you say a very similar thing in class when people ask you about the lines of energy in poses. So I'm pretty sure you're clear about this number thing, and that there will never be a need to change your mind about the way you are leaning (although the choice of changing 'point of focus' and expression remains eternal ) , in terms of
dimensional existence the energetic expression of 1, 3, 4, 12, etc. etc. are all correct. Being a Michael son I see a very clear trinity within the
"4" and so commonly express myself by the energy of 12, 4, AND 3 - and even periodically 1.. The expression of 4 (dimensions or harmonics) is nice,
simple, I drew it for Kathleen with the circles a few posts back.

Lil, Kathleen,
You're welcome, I'm happy it made a little sense, thank you for letting me help.. "also, thanks casey for sharing that about ascension... i guess there is a special group(s) which calls what you describe as "ascension" instead of enlightenment ? - or are you/they seeing something different?" yes enlightenment is what ascension is into they're not identical but the ideas are related enough to say yes to your question
yes .

So by what we have read is it possible that our soul isnt inside us but rather that our soul surrounds us?
I have read in a book by Gregg Braden that there is physical evidence of an old Yogi that inhabited a cave and in there is his hand impressed into the wall of that cave as far in as the shoulder joint, no explanation is known save for that fact that he became a part of the wall of the cave, actually being his Source related self. In essence then we have all been taught to this point that we are finite in nature, so the first initial post to this thread becomes evident now. This explains how there were very old men in the teachings that attained ages that far and away outnumbered what we know now. Just me thinking out loud again.... The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness, with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the center of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this center is really everywhere, it is within each of us. |

Wow, thank you everyone, I am overwhelmed by all that has been written, all needs to sink in I guess...
If "the body" is a unique and specific self-expression of the universe as everything else is: how can it be temporary-is there even such a question? actually can anything be temporary? And can it be seperate from anything else-spirit and a body? isnt it like saying wave and an ocean ? is it the form you are actually discussing or is it just the presence-being of "body", "embody" i dont feel i am in charge of my body, neither is "it" in charge of me...i don't even feel a seperation, whatever happens is happening in "both" at the same time..."we" are moving together, or being moved together and its lovely. "We" are It, just like everything else, and can "we/it" go anywhere else? can it dissapear? can it change? oh my god, am i totally losing it? |

No, I've not read it, looks good..
I'm still on the latter half of this ""If it's all perfect, that is, if it's the best it can be and there's no room for improvement, why is there this possibility for me to actually operate from such a huge chasm of misperception? It's obviously not the perfect way to operate. -- There must be some reconciliation point between realizing that actions from an unclear mind do have hurtful, detrimental effects and realizing that those actions didn't really mess up anything afterall. ?"" I feel like I took a really fast run at it but never quite got there . |
