It's good!
I've been doing it the past few days. When my mind feels like it's spinning off into a weird tangent, I just silently say, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah for a few moments. Doing this stops you from doing whatever you were doing. it changes your mental gear. Then stop the mantra and be where you are with your newly clarified mind state. Funnily enough, this works really well! This might be the mantra that Bill was looking for. |

Yes, that just might be Bill's mantra. Mine too.
My photography teacher busted me Monday for calling myself a spazz...and then she reminded me that I had also called myself an idiot before at another lesson....and how many times I tell her I'm sorry, over and over, when I don't understand something. It's a terrible habit that's so ingrained, I really don't even notice it anymore. It's become second nature to put myself down. What really got my attention, after talking about it for a while, was recalling how much my brother did the same thing when he was here. His method of dealing with his weight issues is to make jokes about it at his expense. It got to the point where I'd have to change the subject or leave the room, because I didn't want to validate that one more time. After 50+ years. And then... :lightbulb. Turns out I do the exact same thing. With total unawareness. So, I'm committed now, Erich and others....basta. Enough. No more. "Occupy your mind with something other than what it was previously occupied with - which is usually hassling yourself." Roger. I hear you. Over and out. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear, and I've had two teachers appear in two days!

Thanks E, when you say it are you reminded of the Monty Python skit about Spam?
Then you can do it in different vocal tones. Then it brings a smile to your face and then you just comtimue on... Its the simple things that work best. Love ya Erich.

and as much as u made me laugh spangled, blah blah blah is less defined and more encompasing than "whatever" (good try @ a match though!) however there are just some english words that can not be accurately translated just like sanskrit how sweet it is blah blah blah rona

Thank you Erich! Always good to hear your voice...always love your vibe.
"Wow, we're in the middle of an awesome event, let's cop to it, let's be realistic." The cynical world is quick to label one who believes in goodness as "unrealistic", but in fact it is realistic to believe in goodness. Soaking this in.... |

Precise pronunciation of the Sanskrit mantra is
important because in time the body and mind become an instrument for that vibrational frequency. The teacher may communicate this importance simply by example
rather than explanation ... by repeating the mantra many times and requiring the student to repeat it back, refining the sound to the student's ear until
it match's the teacher's vibrational output.
A one-word mantra is called a seed mantra. The one-word BLAH mantra, though not a Sanskrit word, addresses and illustrates something powerful ... the opening. Every instant is the opening. The doorway. Every instant is this side of the door, and also the other side of the door ... the door is light and it opens to light. For instance, you may feel like you have the blahs. The BLAH mantra is the 200 foot tall, 1000 watt road sign announcing This Is It. It says, take whatever you are at this instant. If you are blah, dive into blah. Don't ignore it, don't wait for something better to come along, don't seek to change it so that you are no longer feeling blah, don't seek activities with the intent of changing blah to something else. Rather, bring awareness to blah by making blah the object of attention with the method of mantra. That awareness and that attention is the opening, the object of the attention is experience, it is working with whatever is available, which happens to be blah. Notice that this does not emphasize Being Blah. Being Blah is already going on, so the BLAH mantra is simply not running away, not hiding your face, not being afraid. It emphasizes bringing awareness to Blah, and it is the awareness that opens the door. The awareness is a celebration of the moment, no matter what is available, and every moment in the world of experience requires working with whatever is available. If you're Blah and you diligently practice the BLAH mantra, with great devotion and purpose, as if your life depends upon it (which in a sense it does) you will begin to smile, and smiling is an aspect of naturalness. The awareness, focused by the BLAH mantra, brings any arbitrary (changeable) experience in line with naturalness. Another mantra could be the Boo Hoo mantra. If you're feeling sad, you could use Boo Hoo. Practiced with the same diligence, you will begin to smile. But the BLAH mantra is particularly keen in this instance because it is actively working with what is available rather than a hypothetical situation, it's a doing rather than a telling, it is refining truth to be heard and repeated by a student's ear.

the bigger thing is forgetfulness. needing to remember.
I call on my inner wisdom, the true teacher Pulsating as truth, being and ecstatic joy Who is always present, full of peace Existing unconditionally, completely free with splendid illumination. so the the mantra and then think on this.

As Mark was saying, though, listen closely for the correct pronunciation.
I'm glad you're liking it! I talked about it again today in class. Remember, when you're with other people, don't say it out loud. They're likely to misinterpret your meaning. |
